Google says Gemini 4 Argon rolled out globally, then Carbon entered testing
Why this story?
Google’s October recap puts two frontier model releases in one month in a single place, with Carbon still in pre-release testing.

Google said in a recap published Nov. 2 that it rolled out Gemini 4 Argon globally after early safety testing, making the model available in Google AI Studio, the Gemini API, Google Cloud, Search and the Gemini app. The company said Argon is used for complex coding, financial analysis, legal workflows and robotics reasoning.
Google also said it announced Gemini 4 Carbon two weeks later, describing it as its strongest model yet for long-horizon engineering and cybersecurity defense. The company said Carbon is in pre-release testing with the U.S. government and a subset of trusted cyber defenders through the Fairwind Program, with broader release to developers, businesses and consumers to follow after more testing.
The same post said October also included Genie 4 for real-time interactive world simulation with native audio, a new Fitbit Edge device, a Project Suncatcher prototype that returned an AI response from orbit, research updates for scientists, and a quantum-computing result on “magic state cultivation.”
